Ahead of the first ODI against West Indies in Lucknow on Wednesday (November 6), Afghanistan captain Rashid Khan was asked whether the big ground dimensions will have an effect on his team's batsmen? And Rashid, being true to himself, replied saying the opponent may have the reputation of being dangerous six hitters but his troops aren't far behind with their "Afghani power". 

"We are not big in size but we hit big sixes," the skipper told reporters prior to the start of West Indies' three ODIs, three T20Is and one Test tour. "We have the Afghani power and this boundary will also be small for us."

"But we will have to play smart cricket and not focus much on big shots. Because on such big ground, you have to play smart cricket."

Rashid said all the focus is on self-improvement rather than worrying about how the visitors might go. "We will not focus on how they are against the spin; we will play our best cricket and deliver our best bowling performance," he added. 

Sitting alongside Rashid was Afghanistan's new head coach Lance Klusener and he said the series will provide a nice build-up towards the Asia Cup T20 and T20 World Cup in Australia next year. 

"Any series is important from here on as the Asia Cup and the World Cup are coming. Any series will bring us closer to finding the team that is going to take us in those big tournaments. So, the sooner we find those combinations, the better it is," Klusener said. 

The next two ODIs will also be played in Lucknow's Atal Bihari Vajpayee International Cricket Stadium on November 9 and 11, respectively.
