BCCI chief selector MSK Prasad has lambasted Farokh Engineer for his “petty talk” after the former India wicketkeeper accused one of the selection panel members of serving tea to skipper Virat Kohli's wife Anushka Sharma during the World Cup in England.

Speaking to TOI, Farokh had termed the selection committee as “Mickey Mouse”. The 82-year-old had also said that the players of better stature should be a part of this elite panel.

"I feel sad for someone deriving sadistic pleasure out of indulging in petty talk, thereby demeaning & disrespecting the selectors and wife of Indian captain through false and frivolous allegations," Prasad told PTI on Thursday.

"Let's not forget that this selection committee has been appointed by BCCI through a proper process in an AGM," he added.

Apart from MSK Prasad, Sarandeep Singh, Jatin Paranjpe, Gagan Khoda and Devang Gandhi are part of BCCI’s senior selection committee.

Engineer had claimed that he saw one of these five men getting cups of tea for Anushka during the mega event but he didn't name anyone.

Prasad feels that it's time that Farokh behaved his age as it doesn't suit his stature to pass such nasty comments about anyone's wife.

"Someone at the age of 82 should reflect maturity and enjoy the progress of Indian cricket from his time to the current day," chairman of selection committee said.
