Hardik Pandya would never forget the date, October 16. It's one of the biggest days in his life as he made his ODI debut for India. Hardik was included in the playing XI against New Zealand at Dharamsala, and he was handed over the Indian cap by Kapil Dev.

Pandya, who was 215th player to debut for India in ODIs, made the game even more memorable with his performance. He picked up 3/31 and also bagged Man of the Match award. Hardik was fourth Indian to win the MOM award on ODI debut.

The 26-year-old recalled the memories and posted a tweet with a picture. He can be seen receiving cap from Kapil in the photo.

"Taking a moment to remember my ODI debut three years ago today ... what a memorable journey it's been so far with #TeamIndia. Every time I step onto the field, I realize a dream I had as a kid to play for my country.. there's no greater honour for me ????????❤," Hardik's post read.

Hardik was given the new ball in that game by the then captain MS Dhoni. He got smashed for three boundaries in his first over by Martin Guptill. But the debutant came back strongly and removed Guptill, Corey Anderson, and then Luke Ronchi to break New Zealand's back. India had defeated Kiwis by six wickets in that game.
