CoA chief Vinod Rai lauds Sourav Ganguly's appointment as BCCI President

Ganguly will serve as BCCI President only until September 2020.

Supreme-Court appointed Committee of Administrators (CoA) chief Vinod Rai, on Tuesday (October 15), has termed the appointment of Sourav Ganguly as next President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) as excellent and very happy development.

On October 13, Ganguly, President of Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) and former India captain, has been named as BCCI President and CoA chief hailed the appointment while saying he is the right man for the job is a very successful captain and an experienced cricket administrator.

Rai told ANI on Tuesday, “If Sourav Ganguly becomes the president then it’s very happy development. I mean former player and experienced person like him who handled the Cricket Association of Bengal, coming into cricket administration, is an excellent development. I don’t know about the past, I am just looking at the future. I have nothing to do with the past.”

The CoA chief signed off by saying, “I will personally be very happy because he is not only a former cricketer but a very successful captain and an experienced cricket administrator. That is all I have to say, for other things I have no idea and don’t want to talk about it.”

Noteworthy, Ganguly will hold the post of the BCCI president for a mere nine months and will have to demit office in July due to compulsory cooling-off period, as he is already served as CAB president for the last five years and an administrator could only be in position for 6 years period.
