Yuvraj Singh, who called time on his international cricket career earlier this year, is now keen on giving back to the society.

He already runs a YouWeCan Foundation which helps people battling cancer. It was founded in 2012 after Yuvraj himself came out winning the battle with the disease. The cricketer then went on to launch another initiative 'Together We Can' where he helps the underprivileged kids to educate and empower.

Having done his bit in philanthropic activities, the southpaw on Friday (October 11) inaugurated Yuvraj Singh Centre of Excellence (YSCE) at Holy Heart Presidency School.

Addressing a gathering full of excited students and staff, Yuvraj said: “We are offering world-class facilities. I want students to understand that there is no substitute for hard work. Studies and sports should go hand in hand. I would like to advise that sports in any form must be inculcated in students.”

Talking about his retired life and his India jersey, the 37-year-old mentioned: “My personal life is great after retirement. I spend a lot of time with my family. I manage my personal and professional life due to a disciplined lifestyle. The levels of stress have also reduced. It is good but I miss my jersey. It is part of our body. My life has changed for better after retirement. ”

He also shared his experience of battling cancer.

“My inspiration during illness was to come and play for the nation. It was a difficult phase. Under the banner of Youwecan, we are doing multiple things for the welfare of cancer patients. Giving back to society is on my mind,” Yuvraj asserted.
