By crossing all obstacles, Sri Lanka cricket team has finally arrived in Pakistan on Tuesday (September 24) for the upcoming limited-overs series starting from September 27 (Friday) in Karachi.

With the Government of Pakistan promising to give the Islanders the same level of security as a head of state, the Lankan team arrived in the southern port city of Karachi – the venue will host three one-day internationals (ODIs) on September 27, 29 and October 2.

The ODI series will be followed by three T20 Internationals in Lahore, where the Sri Lanka team bus was attacked by terrorists in 2009 and since then the top international teams refused to visit the country.

The current tour was also in doubt after Sri Lankan cricket board was warned by its government about a possible security threat during the tour following the top national players including Dimuth Karunaratne and Lasith Malinga refused to travel Pakistan for the upcoming series.

However, the limited-overs tour got a green signal after Pakistan’s government promised that the army would coordinate the security over the two-week-long visit of the country.

Noteworthy, it would be for the first time when a foreign team will stay in Pakistan for two weeks since the 2009 attack. However, Pakistan has successfully hosted Zimbabwe, West Indies, Sri Lanka, and a World XI for limited-overs matches amid intense security over the past few years.
