Discarded Pakistan wicket-keeper batsman Kamran Akmal has left likes of MS Dhoni and Adam Gilchrist behind as he scored 31st First-Class hundred. Playing for Central Punjab in Quaid-e-Azam Trophy, he helped them reach 369 for five on the first day of the match against Northern.

The game, hosted by Faisalabad, also saw Azhar Ali's ton. Kamran in his 170-ball 157 runs innings hit 12 fours and four sixes before getting stumped off Nauman Ali's delivery as he was looking good for a double hundred.

Akmal is currently not considered for the national team selection any more. He last featured for Pakistan way back in 2017. In Tests, Akmal hasn't sported the Pakistan jersey since 2010.

Before this first-class game, Kamran had scored only 33 against Southern Punjab. But he returned with a bang in the next game.

Kamran had made headlines during World Cup 2019 for his statement against the Pakistan team. He was so disappointed with the team that he went on to criticize Sarfaraz Ahmed's captaincy and also requested the Prime Minister to take action against the whole team.

"Pakistan has not won any match in the World Cup, where they opted to chase. The only victory for the greens caps came against the tournament favorites England, when we batted first and posted massive 300 plus runs on the board, while against West Indies, we were badly exposed and flattened at meager 105. Our batting badly flopped and the opponents exposed all the flaws," Akmal told Pakistan's English daily 'The Nation'.
