England batsman James Vince has been re-signed by the Sydney Sixers on Wednesday (September 18) for the upcoming ninth edition of Australia’s Big Bash League (BBL).

Vince, Captain of Hampshire side in England’s county cricket, has already featured for the Sydney based franchise in the second half of the last BBL season as a replacement for his English teammate Joe Denly. Impressed by his show last season, Sixers has offered a fresh contract to Vince, who was part of England’s World Cup-winning squad this year, for the BBL 2018-20.

The 28-year-old right-hander said he was looking forward to join the side for the upcoming season and was hoping to have a great BBL season in the new five-team finals format. Vince said of his signing, “I’m delighted to be returning to the Sixers for BBL season nine. My family and I were made to feel very welcome at the Sixers and had a wonderful time living in Sydney. The SCG is an amazing stadium to play at and we had some great support their last season. I look forward to more of the same this season.”

He continued, “Having lost out in the semis in BBL|08 I’m hoping we can go all the way this time around. There is a huge amount of talent in the squad and some great people at the club. I’m looking forward to contributing to what is hopefully going to be a great BBL for the Sixers.”

Meanwhile, South African all-rounder Chris Morris has been also signed by the Sydney Thunders for the upcoming season of Australia’s T20 league on Wednesday and he was delighted to tick his bucket list. Morris said on the latest development, “Obviously since the tournament started with the Big Bash, it's one of the tournaments that any cricketer would want to play in. For me the way I looked at it was, it was part of my cricketing career bucket list.”

Noteworthy, Morris has represented Proteas in 23 T20Is, recently played alongside Vince for Hampshire in the T20 Blast in England. The BBL 2019-20 will get underway from December 17 with Sixers’ opening match will be against the Perth Scorchers on December 18.
