Matthew Wade made a brilliant 4th innings century, his second in this series | GettyThe fifth and final Ashes 2019 Test at the Kennington Oval in London ended up in favor of England, as they managed to draw the Ashes 2019 2-2. The last time Ashes was drawn in England was in 1972 and that had ended in 2-2 as well. The fourth day saw England beginning their innings from 318/8.

Broad made 12* as England’s innings folded for 329, setting Australia a target of 399 runs. Nathan Lyon picked 4/69, while Cummins, Siddle, and Marsh picked two wickets each. Cummins ended with 29 wickets in the Ashes 2019, but couldn’t pick any five-wicket hauls.

In reply, Stuart Broad removed the openers Harris (9) and Warner (11) quickly. Labuschagne made 14, while the hero for Australia Steve Smith fell for his first score below fifty, as Broad had him caught by Stokes for 30. Some rearguard action came from Matthew Wade, who made 117 with 17 fours and 1 six and he got support from Marsh (24) and Paine (21).

Stuart Broad and Jack Leach picked four wickets each | GettyBut their resistance was broken by Root, who got Wade out stumped and then Leach and Broad wrapped up the match quickly, bowling Australia out for 263 runs and winning the match by 135 runs. Stuart Broad picked 4/62 and Leach picked 4/49 for England. Both England and Australia earned 56 points each on the points table of ICC World Test championship.

Australia still remains without a Test series win in England since 2001, despite retaining the Ashes urn.
