There are still hopes for Pakistan of hosting the scheduled limited-overs series against Sri Lanka despite alleged terrorist threats, as the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Ehsan Mani on Friday (September 13) confirmed that Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) still have not declined the tour of the country.

The cricket board was advised by the country’s government to reassess the security situation in Pakistan following a terror attack warning on the national team during the limited-overs series.

However, the PCB chairman insisted that the “discussions are going on” the matter and there has been no negative feedback from the SLC, and they are expecting a positive response from Sri Lanka.

Mani told reporters in a press conference in Lahore, “Discussions are going on and there has been no negative feedback from Cricket Sri Lanka. They have not said they will not come. We are positive they will come and we will host the matches.”

Meanwhile, Sri Lanka has already named their squads for the 13-day tour including three One Day Internationals and as many as T20Is starting from September 27 despite the senior players have boycotted from the tour, forcing the SLC to name relatively lesser experienced squad for the tour.

However, the PCB chief has made it clear that there is nothing to do with what squad SLC are sending, the most important thing is that they are coming in Pakistan to play while confirming the matches will be played at the announced venues – Karachi and Lahore.

Mani signed off by saying, “For us what is important is that Pakistan is hosting an international series and they are committed to coming.”
