South African leg-spinner Imran Tahir was signed up by the Guyana Amazon Warriors as a replacement for Pakistan's Shadab Khan for the ongoing 2019 edition of the Hero Caribbean Premier League (CPL).

The franchise announced the latest development on Monday (September 9) after Shadab, the Pakistan wrist-spinner, was called back for national duty after featuring in the first three games of the CPL 2019.

There could not be a greater option than Tahir for the Warriors’, as the team’s coach Johan Botha was well aware what the Proteas star can do for the team in the tournament, as the leg-spinner helped the side to finish as runners up in the last edition of the CPL with his 16 wickets at an average of 17.75.

Meanwhile, Afghanistan leg-spinner Qais Ahmad is also set to join the franchise, as he has been named as a replacement for Saurabh Netravalkar after the USA bowler also decided to leave the T20 event for the international commitments.

The 19 years old Ahmad has already represented St Lucia Stars in the CPL 2018 competition, and he has taken 35 wickets in T20 cricket at an average of 18 so far. The leg-spinner also turned up for the Hobart Hurricanes’ in Australia’s Big Bash League (BBL) earlier this year.
