The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Saturday, 7th September, has confirmed that India fast-bowler Mohammad Shami will return to India on September 12 from the US.

A senior BCCI official has also revealed that Shami had left for the US directly from the West Indies after the conclusion of the recent India Test series, but he has been in constant touch with his lawyer Salim Rahaman and the Board regarding the ongoing domestic violence case by his wife Hasin Jahan.

Recently, an arrest warrant issued against Shami after his estranged wife registered a domestic violence case, later his lawyer has cleared that it was the pacer was just asked to surrender.

Speaking to IANS, the BCCI official said: “Shami has gone to the US after the tour of West Indies got over and he will be back in the country on the 12th. He has been in constant touch with his lawyer on the court matter and has also spoken to the relevant people within the board on the matter.”

Meanwhile, the Indian cricket board has also made it clear that the board will not take any action against Shami until they see the charge sheet. The functionary signed off by saying, “Yes, we do understand that an arrest warrant has been issued. But don't really see us getting involved in this at this point in time. Once we see the charge sheet, we can decide how things stand and if the BCCI constitution calls for any action. But at this point in time, I would say it is too early to take a call on the matter.”
