Sanjay Bangar's absence could well pave way for promotion of Bharat Arun as the assistant coach in Team India's backroom staff, says a report in Mumbai Mirror

Bangar had to leave his position as batting coach after BCCI decided not to renew his contract following a lengthy interview process.

The former India batsman used to double-up as an assistant to head coach Ravi Shastri as well, which Arun, a well-acknowledged member of the support staff for his outstanding work with the Indian bowling unit, is most likely to be elevated at.

The promotion will also mean higher remuneration for Arun, though modalities of contract and remuneration package of the support staff will be decided only after BCCI CEO Rahul Johri returns to the country from an overseas tour.

Retained fielding coach R Sridhar and newly appointed batting coach Vikram Rathour are the other two members of the support staff.
