Team India skipper Virat Kohli is known to have passion about sports. It’s no secret that the right-hand batsman likes to play football and loves the sport but when it comes to tennis, Kohli idolises the 38-year-old legendary tennis player Roger Federer.

20-time Grand Slam champion Federer will take on qualifier Nagal in a highly-anticipated 1st-round match back in the US Open. Thus, even though the Delhi based batsman worships Federer, when it comes to backing his countryman, he will be cheering for Sumit Nagal.

As the 20-year-old will be making his Grand Slam debut on Monday (26 August) at the iconic Arthur Ashe Stadium in New York, Virat Kohli congratulated and wished Nagal all the best on Twitter.

And congratulations to @nagalsumit for qualifying for the #USOpen. A humongous task facing the great @rogerfederer, but we will be cheering for you. Best Wishes and Goodluck,” he wrote.

Sumit Nagal had reportedly hoped for a first-round outing with Roger Federer when he came to know that the Swiss great would be playing a qualifier in his US Open 2019 opener. And to his delight, the dream came true.

"I want to play him. It doesn't matter. It's not about winning or losing all the time. It's just the experience. It's playing someone who has 20 Grand Slams," Sumit Nagal told ATP's official website.
