Sunil Gavaskar meets US President Donald Trump in New YorkOne of the greatest batsmen in world cricket Sunil Gavaskar recently met the president of the United States of America, Donald Trump, during a charity fundraiser in New York. Gavaskar was in the city to raise funds and awareness for a charity foundation which provides free surgeries to children with congenital heart defects.

"Gavaskar utilized the time between the limited-overs and the Test series of the West Indies tour in America to create awareness for the Heart to Heart foundation (h2h). This is in collaboration with the Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani Hospital, Kharghar, Navi Mumbai which is providing free surgeries for children with congenital heart defects,” the Trump Bedminster Golf Course press release stated.

"The iconic batsman participated in multiple fundraising events in New Jersey and Atlanta which raised funds for over 230 surgeries," it added.

The first batsman to make 10,000 runs in Test cricket and reach 30 Test centuries, retired in 1987 and has since taken up commentary. He is currently commentating in the ongoing Test series between India and the West Indies.

He will return to the USA after the completion of the second and final Test between West Indies and India in Jamaica, to participate in more fundraisers. These events will be in the Silicon Valley, Seattle, Louisville -- the town where there is a cricket ground named after him --, Indianapolis, Fort Wayne, and Chicago.
