KPL 2019: Bengaluru Blasters edge out Bellary Tuskers by just one run via VJD method

Tuskers were reeling at 55 for 5 in 8.2 overs while chasing the target of 99 when rain arrived at the Chinnaswamy Stadium and the match couldn’t resume.

Bellary Tuskers and Bengaluru Blasters faced each other in the 12th match of Karnataka Premier League (KPL) 2019 at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru on Thursday (August 22).

Tuskers skipper CM Gautam won the toss and opted to bowl first in a rain-marred 16-over contest. Abrar Kazi (3/15) delivered outstanding spell as Tuskers restricted Blasters to 93/8. Prasidh Krishna, Krishnappa Gowtham, KP Appanna and Bhavesh Gulecha also chipped in with wicket apiece.

Chasing the revised target of 99, Tuskers got off to a horrible start with four out of the top five batsmen getting dismissed in single digits. Manoj S Bhandage removed CA Karthik (0) and Zeeshan Ali Sayeed (2), while Bharath Dhuri got rid of Devdutt Padikkal (7) and CM Gautam (7).

Opener Abhishek Reddy was the only one who showed some resistance before Anand Doddamani trapped him plumb in front of the wicket on 30 off 23 deliveries. When Tuskers were reeling at 55 for 5 in 8.2 overs, rain arrived at the Chinnaswamy Stadium and the match couldn’t resume.

As per the VJD method, the par score was 56 and thus Bengaluru Blasters were declared winner by a margin of just 1 run.
