Afghanistan Cricket Board on Sunday (August 18) suspended Mohammad Shahzad for one year from all forms of the game after violating governing body's stipulated disciplinary rules.

The ban has actually been reduced to only 12 months after it was earlier announced that the wicketkeeper batsman will be barred from playing for an "indefinite period"

"Shahzad has violated ACB’s disciplinary rules and regulations previously as well and has not adhered to ACB’s Code of Conduct for players. He has travelled out of the country several times violating ACB’s policy for players to seek its permission before doing so," the ACB said in a statement.

"ACB has well-equipped training and practice facilities within the country and Afghan players do not require to travel abroad for such purposes."

Shahzad was sent back home after playing just two matches during the World Cup in UK. But the reason of his sacking remain uncleared as the 31-year-old denied ACB claims that he wasn't fit and is recovering from an injury.

Last year also Shahzad found himself in midst of a controversy when he was fined by the board and asked to relocate his base from Peshawar to Afghanistan permanently or risk his contract being terminated.
