Will take a call on captaincy after sorting out back issue: Eoin Morgan

Having led England to a maiden 50-over World Cup triumph at home last month, Eoin Morgan now wishes to guide his team towards victory in the T20 World Cup next year.

But he has confirmed that would depend entirely on how his troublesome back is copping up 15 months down the line.

Morgan, who walked off a World Cup fixture against West Indies, just recently opted out of a domestic game versus Surrey having aggravated the back problem.

There have been questions raised over the merits of Morgan continuing at the helm of affairs for England considering he is 32-year-old and might not be around to take part in the next 50-over World Cup in India in 2023.

"I need more time to think. It's a big decision and a big commitment," he told BBC. "I just don't want to let anybody down. When you lead, you have to lead from the front and you have to be physically fit. Finding form is another thing. Hopefully, that works itself out."

"I need time. I need the season to end pretty soon so I can have that time to physically get fit and guarantee it's not an injury risk between this year and next, then I can make a call on it."

England next plays limited overs cricket in New Zealand where the team faces the hosts in a five-match T20I series this November, while the ODI side won't be in action until February 2020 in South Africa.
