Pakistan cricketer Mohammad Hafeez is set to replace AB de Villiers for Middlesex in the Vitality T20 Blast in England.

The South African cricketer played five matches for the county in his first stint. He scored 253 runs in those 5 innings with a strike rate of a whopping 191.66. The three notable scores were his two scores of 88 not out and 64 runs off 40 balls in his final game against Surrey.

He will return for the last two games but will be replaced by Hafeez in the meanwhile. Hafeez is fresh off a GT20 Canada stint for Edmonton Royals where he scored 85 runs in 5 games.

The 38-year-old no longer plays Test cricket and was also excluded from the list of Pakistan’s centrally contracted players. He is playing in the T20 leagues for now.

Hafeez was not given a central contract after his below-par World Cup performance where he could just manage 253 runs including one half-century. The top-order batsman will have his task cut out to replace de Villiers for Middlesex in the T20 competition.
