India great MS Dhoni, who is currently serving the Indian Army in the Parachute Regiment in Kashmir, may reportedly unfurl the national flag in Leh on the 73rd Independence Day this week.

Meanwhile, it is also being reported that the man has aggravated a finger injury suffered during the World Cup in UK to a hairline fracture.

The injury was picked up in the game against England at Edgbaston on June 30.

Dhoni scored an unbeaten 31-ball 42 in India's 31-run loss to the hosts but during this innings, he was seen spitting blood after trying to lessen the pain by putting his finger in the mouth.

"Dhoni injured a finger during India Vs England match. However, he continued to be in the game even after the injury. The intensity of the damage is so high that it is speculated to be a hairline fracture. It’s hurting the former captain of India so much that he cannot even close his fist," In.com quoted an anonymous source saying.

Not part of India's squad for ongoing West Indies tour, Dhoni, says a report, didn't make the news of his injury public because of his long-time commitment to serve the Indian army after completing the World Cup duties. He didn't want to be disqualified from army training.

"Dhoni wanted to keep this injury a big secret. He didn’t want any fuss around it. In fact, he has not even got it scanned by the doctors in order to avoid the beans getting spilt."

"The big reason behind this being the Territorial Army. He didn’t want the injury to get officially detected for obvious reasons, as he didn’t want to get disqualified for training," the source added.
