Mickey Arthur was earlier considered as a potential replacement for Trevor Bayliss as England head coach, but now England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) are not showing much interest for his services.

England are desperately searching for the suitable man for the top role, as Bayliss will quit his job after the end of the ongoing Ashes 2019 next month to join the IPL franchise Sunrisers Hyderabad.

There were multiple reports that England could offer the role to Arthur, but now it seems that the ECB have lost their interest in former coach after the South African failed to get an extension to his contract as head coach from Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB)

It is being said that the ECB are seeking a calmer figure than the headmasterly Arthur for the role and Chris Silverwood, who is already a member of their coaching staff, is considered a more favorite contender to replace Bayliss as England’s next coach.

Meanwhile, Arthur, reportedly, asked for two-year extension after his contract finished with World Cup 2019 but Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) denied his request following a lackluster World Cup 2019 campaign in England, as they are looking for a fresh face for the role.

Arthur was "disappointed and hurt" after being axed as Pakistan cricket team head coach, saying he did his job wholehearted since taking over the role in 2016.

He told AFP on Wednesday, 7th August after PCB denied the extension of his contract, “I am extremely disappointed and hurt. I did my wholehearted effort to lift Pakistan cricket.”

Under Arthur, Pakistan stunned the entire cricketing world by winning their maiden ICC Champions Trophy crown in 2017 and attaining No.1 ranking in the T20 cricket.

It is learned that Ottis Gibson, Gary Kirsten, and Andrew McDonald are other prominent names in the race, though, the Australian is considered too inexperienced for the role.
