SL v NZ 2019: Dinesh Chandimal returns to Sri Lanka squad for New Zealand Tests

Sri Lanka names 22 probables for the home series.

Dinesh Chandimal has been on Wednesday, 7th August, recalled to Sri Lanka squad for the two-match Test series against New Zealand starting from August 14 at home.

This Test series will Islanders’ first assignment in the red-ball game since their historic Test series win in South Africa earlier this year, as well as, mark the beginning of their ICC World Test Championship campaign.

At the moment, Sri Lankan national selectors picked a 22-member squad which will be later trimmed to 15 before the series opener Test in Galle against the Black Caps. Chandimal, the former captain, is expected to make the cut to the 15-man squad for the Test series having been sidelined since the last six months after a poor outing in Australia.

Besides Chandimal, Sri Lanka also brought back spinners Akila Dananjaya and Dilruwan Perera for the New Zealand series. Angelo Mathews also returned to national Test squad after missing the South Africa series with a hamstring injury.
