The gutsy all-rounder has been in terrific form in the competition lately.

Indian all-rounder Yuvraj Singh, who announced his retirement from international cricket a while ago, is currently leading the Toronto Nationals in the GT20 Canada 2019. On Sunday, he could not bear his backache and ended his innings by retiring hurt after playing just 2 balls against the Montreal Tigers.

The Nationals faced the Tigers on Sunday, 4 August 2019. The latter batted first and posted a total of 136 in their 20 overs. While chasing, Yuvraj came out to bat on the third ball of the ninth over when Heinrich Klaasen got out for 20 to Fawad Ahmed.

The left-hander played the third ball of the over which was a dot ball. The next ball, Yuvraj tried to sweep it and felt tremendous pain in his back. The gutsy all-rounder could not withstand the pain and decided to retire hurt.

Luckily, the incident did not hamper the run-chase as the Nationals chased down the target with 4 wickets in hand and 15 balls to spare. This was their second win in five matches. They are currently placed fourth on the points table.

Yuvraj Singh said at the post-match presentation, "Gonna find it tomorrow (about the state of back injury). The bowlers did well and we picked up crucial wickets during middle overs. I thought he (Suri) looked good in the nets and he batted really well and got the win for us."

The Nationals skipper Yuvraj Singh is in good form and has provided them the necessary boost with 145 runs in 5 innings at a healthy strike rate of 147.95. His season stats also include a half-century.
