ICC made this harsh decision after Zimbabwe Cricket were unable to provide a process for conducting free and democratic elections. Zimbabwe was scheduled to tour India for three T20Is in January 2020. This would have been their first tour to India after a long gap of 17 years. Meanwhile, their suspension has also left their hopes of participating in ICC T20 World Cup 2020 hanging by a thread.
