A rumour of spat between two senior India cricketer Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma is doing rounds on social media. The reports said that the skipper and vice-captain of India's limited-over side were not on the same page in the inclusion of players in the squad.

Former India cricketer Gautam Gambhir, who himself had a sour relationship with his skipper during playing days, has given his opinion on the rift. "Closer home, I read that there is a rift within the (Indian) team,” He wrote in his column for The Times of India.

A news article claims that all is not well between Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. For starters, BCCI should have by now spoken to the people concerned and issued a statement on the matter. Whatever is coming out is all “off-the-record” which further sets the tongues wagging and gives rise to speculation.”

He added that the two cricketers are mature enough to not get into something like this. “I don’t know what is happening in the dressing room, but from a distance, it all settled. Besides, both Virat and Rohit are mature guys. Hence I don’t think there is any truth in the rift speculation.”

Gambhir would want a public apology from the writer if the news turned out to be false. "Personally, I agree that journalists have their sources whom they attribute the information to but what happens if the rift is denied. Will there be a public apology by the media house or the author of the story?” he wrote.
