CoA confirms there will be no review of Team India’s performance in World Cup

Earlier reports mentioned that Kohli, Shastri and MSK Prasad will meet with CoA to discuss India's outing in tournament.

Ravi Shastri and Virat Kohli | GettyThe Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Administrators (CoA) had previously talked about a speculated meeting with the Indian Captain Virat Kohli, coach Ravi Shastri and chief od selectors MSK Prasad, to review the performance of the team in the ICC World Cup 2019.

However, now reports are emerging that there will be no such meeting taking place and there will be no review of Team India’s performance in the tournament, where they were eliminated in the semi-finals by New Zealand in Manchester on 9-10 July.

I am not aware of any review that is going to be conducted. Let us just wait for the manager and coach’s report which is the standard practice after every tour,” said Vinod Rai, head of CoA, here on Saturday.

On Friday, Diana Edulji and Ravi Thodge, the other members of the CoA, have also said that there would be no review. “Why should there be a review? Why should CoA interfere in cricketing matters,” Edulji said. “I am not aware of any review meeting,” said Thodge.

There was speculation of a review on Monday when the CoA is scheduled to meet. Most of the players and members of the coaching staff though are unlikely to reach India before that.

We inherited the selection committee. We had not picked it. The next AGM (annual general meeting) will decide the new selection panel,” Rai said on being asked about the selection panel.

GM will be held after the elections of office-bearers of the Board of Control for Cricket (BCCI) on October 22, at which point the Supreme Court-appointed CoA’s mandate will come to an end.

The current India coaching staff’s contracts have been extended by 45 days because of the tour of the West Indies beginning next month. “They have been given a 45-day extension. Normal process will be followed for picking the staff after that. An advertisement will be given and applications will be invited,” said Edulji.

Ravi Shastri and Sanjay Bangar are allowed to apply again for the positions, as do the rest of the coaching staff.
