Former South Africa captain AB de Villiers recently broke his silence over the controversy of him offering to return to international cricket to play the ICC World Cup 2019 for South Africa and wanting to be included in the squad which was to be named the next day.

Much was made out of this issue as South Africa struggled in the tournament, losing their first three matches and only managing to win three games in total. Fans clamored for his return and once it was revealed that he did offer to make a comeback, the officials of South African board and captain Du Plessis went into explanation mode.

De Villiers released a four-page statement on his social media accounts in which he went in details about the unwanted attention that the private conversation got, once it was leaked.

The post on Instagram saw a comment from one of the closest friends of De Villiers and his captain in the IPL team Royal Challengers Bangalore, Virat Kohli. Both the players share a very strong bonding given that they have been playing IPL for a long time.

Kohli wrote on his post that, “My brother you are the most honest and committed man I know. It’s been unfortunate to see this happen to you. But know that we stand with you and believe in you. Seeing people enter your personal space has been sad and uncalled for. More Love and power to you and your beautiful family. Me and Anushka are Always here for your guys
