After axing Steve Rhodes from the top post of Bangladesh team’s Head coach, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has now shown the door to Courtney Walsh, as the board terminated its association with former West Indies captain as bowling coach on Tuesday, 9th July.

After their disappointing World Cup 2019 exit, BCB is hungry for success on the field, therefore, they have decided to revamp a complete coaching set-up and that all they started with Rhodes.

Now, the board has on Tuesday confirmed that they are not extending their contract with Walsh that was coming to an end after the 2019 World Cup, took the decision after analyzing their CWC 019 performance.

Nizamuddin Chowdhury, BCB chief executive, told reporters at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium, on Tuesday, “After the World Cup we sat and discussed the future of our team management. Even if they [supporting staff] want to continue, the board has the right to decide while similarly, they have an option to decide even if the board wants to keep them.”

He continued, “We have contracts with most of the coaching staff till this World Cup. We have decided to discontinue our contract with a couple of them. We had a contract with Courtney Walsh until this World Cup and we are not continuing with him anymore.”

Meanwhile, the BCB CEO was also hopeful that they would finalize the head coach before the national team’s Sri Lanka tour later this month for three One Day Internationals.

He signed off by saying, “We are working on whom we will keep [among the coaching staff] for the future. We will take a decision in this regard at the end of this month when we will have a board meeting. We will try to appoint a new head coach before the tour of Sri Lanka. We are looking for someone on a long-term basis and we want someone who can plan for the Twenty20 World Cup and next World Cup. If we don't get then we will have to appoint a coach on an interim basis.”
