Babar Azam was the one shining light in the Pakistani batting lineup that disappointed a lot. He was their highest run-getter with 474 runs and one century to his name. After Pakistan crashed out of the World Cup on basis of the net run rate, as New Zealand went into the semi-finals.

Unfortunately we couldn’t perform well in the first match because of that,” Babar Azam while addressing the media on Tuesday.

Babar Azam was happy with his side’s performance against the hosts though. “England is one of the top-ranked teams,” he added.

Opener Imam-ul-Haq was alongside him during the press conference said the matches were tough but felt the batsmen performed well. “Ups and downs are a part of cricket,” he said sometimes you don’t get the desired results even after working really hard.

Imam knows, however, there is a room for improvement after he found himself struggling in most part of the World Cup, before scoring a century in dead rubber clash against Bangladesh. “I try to set higher goals to perform better and deal with the challenges,” said Imam.

He said he learned a lot in the field and tries to stay positive despite criticisms.
