Ambati Rayudu announced his retirement from all forms of cricket after being overlooked for selection by the selectors for the World Cup. Former Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar sent him a goodwill message on Twitter and remembered the days they spent together in Mumbai Indians' dressing room.

The 33-year-old batsman was one of the probables for the No. 4 spot in India’s World Cup squad for a long time before the announcement of the squad. However, he was snubbed and Vijay Shankar, a ‘3D cricketer’ as per chief selector MSK Prasad, replaced him in the final squad. After tweeting about the ‘3D glasses’ his chances to play the World Cup seemed to take further hit as he was not considered as replacement despite injuries to Shikhar Dhawan and Vijay Shankar.

Sachin Tendulkar, who shared the dressing room with Ambati while playing in the Indian Premier League (IPL) for Mumbai Indians (MI) thanked Rayudu for his contribution to Indian cricket and remembered their MI days.

Tendulkar’s tweet read, “Thank you for all your contribution to Indian Cricket, Ambati. Have fond memories of spending time with you during your stint at @mipaltan. Wishing you all the best for your 2nd innings.

Ambati Rayudu scored 1694 runs in 55 ODIs at an average of 47.05.
