Brian Lara admitted in Mumbai hospital after complaints of chest pain

West Indies batsman and cricketing legend Brian Lara was admitted into a hospital in Parel as he complained of chest pains. The 50-year-old former West Indies captain is in Mumbai and was taken to Global Hospital in Parel on Tuesday morning.

He was brought to the hospital at around 12.30 p.m. and medical investigations were started immediately. Sources said that he was at an event in a nearby hotel when he complained of discomfort.

According to Marathi newspaper Loksatta, Dr. Pravin Kulkarni performed Angiography on Lara and cleared that there was no harm to his wellbeing after chest pains. This ruled out any invasive procedure like Angioplasty. Lara is in Mumbai for Star Sports World Cup broadcast and is an expert on their pre and post-match shows.  

Lara made his Test debut in 1990 against Pakistan and went onto play 131 Tests and 299 ODIs for the West Indies and scored 11953 and 10405 runs respectively with 34 Tests and 19 ODI centuries. He holds the record for the highest Test score- 400* which came against England and highest FC score- 501*. He retired from the game in 2007.
