Yuvraj Singh announced retirement from international cricket on June 10.

Yuvraj Singh will feature in second season of Global Canada T20 LeagueFormer India player Yuvraj Singh, who recently announced his retirement from the international cricket on June 10, has been picked up as a marquee player by the Toronto Nationals in the players draft ahead of the second season of the popular Global Canada T20 League which is scheduled to begin from July 25.

The tournament will have 22 matches, including three playoffs, with the final taking place on August 11. The opening match of the tournament will see defending champions Vancouver Knights facing off against Toronto Nationals.

Yuvraj Singh played 304 ODIs, 58 T20Is and 40 Test matches in his 17-year India career and scored 8701, 1177 and 1900 runs respectively. Yuvraj was one of the finest ODI players India has ever produced and was part of the 2007 World T20 winning Indian team and was the Man of the Tournament in India’s 2011 World Cup triumph.

He was later diagnosed with lung cancer and the illness took a toll on his fitness and health and though he made a successful comeback to the game after defeating the cancer, he was no longer the same Yuvraj we knew and his career well apart despite many comebacks into the team and played for the last time for India in 2017.

Singh expressed interest in playing for foreign T20 leagues, given that he had received interests from many such leagues and Global Canada league was one of it and now fans of cricket in North America will see the mercurial left-hander ply his trade in Canada.
