Kapil Dev feels that a player like Yuvraj should get a proper farewell

Neither Yuvraj nor the BCCI has spoken why did not the 2011 World Cup hero get a farewell game.

Yuvraj Singh | Getty1983 World Cup winning captain Kapil Dev said on Wednesday that a player of Yuvraj Singh’s stature should have got a farewell from the ground, he also said the southpaw commands a place in his all-time XI.

Neither BCCI nor Yuvraj Singh talked on why the 2011 World Cup star didn’t get a farewell match. The 37-year-old announced his retirement from international cricket on Monday after 19 glorious years in international cricket.

“Yuvraj will be in my all-time eleven whenever I sit down to make my team. I would love to see a player like him get the farewell from the ground than he saying ‘I am retired’,” said Kapil at the launch of fantasy sports platform Apne11’.”

“The way he played his cricket. The way he is looked up to, what he has gone through in his life (battling cancer). I wish him even better than what he achieved on the cricket field,” said the legendary all-rounder.

Yuvraj is one amongst the Indian cricketing legends with Virender Sehwag, Rahul Dravid, VVS Laxman, Gautam Gambhir who didn’t get a farewell match.

After Yuvraj announced his farewell, he revealed that he was promised a farewell game by BCCI provided if he failed to pass the “Yo-Yo” Fitness Test. However, he passed the test swansong never happened.
