Shadab Khan, Lasith Malinga and Alex Hales receive big money deals in CPL 2019 draft

CPL also saw players from USA and Canada picked by franchises.

Shadab Khan | GettyAlex Hales, the England opener, who was dumped from the England ICC World Cup 2019 squad after drug test failure, was amongst the big gainers in the Caribbean Premier League 2019 draft.

Hales, Lasith Malinga, and Isuru Udana bagged contracts worth USD 160,000 each and went to Barbados Tridents, St Lucia Stars, and St Kitts & Nevis Patriots respectively. Meanwhile, Shadab Khan went to Guyana Amazons. Andre Russell and Dwayne Bravo were retained by Jamaica Tallawahs and Trinbago Knight Riders respectively.

Chris Gayle moves back to home team of Jamaica Tallahwahs | GettyCPL regulars like Rashid Khan Brendon McCullum, Luke Ronchi, and Chris Lynn have opted for the Euro T20 Slam over the CPL. Kieron Pollard moved to the home franchise of TKR. Nicholas Pooran was picked by Amazon Warriors as their marquee player and Chris Gayle returns to Jamaica Tallawahs, his home team.

The CPL draft also saw some United States of America players being picked in the draft, with names like Ali Khan, USA captain Saurabh Netravalkar (Guyana Amazon Warriors), Xavier Marshall (Jamaica Tallawahs), Aaron Jones (St Kitts & Nevis Patriots) and Hayden Walsh Jr (Barbados Tridents). Canada’s Nitish Kumar was also picked by St Lucia Stars.
