Gautam Gambhir feels Rohit Sharma is next in line for India captaincy after Virat Kohli

Rohit has led the Men in Blue to 8 wins out of 10 ODIs since 2017 with a win percentage of 80.

India opener Rohit Sharma is not only a great batsman but also has shown amazing leadership qualities. In the Indian Premier League (IPL), Sharma led Mumbai Indians (MI) was crowned Champions for the fourth time. Not only IPL, but Rohit also had an impressive record as India skipper in T20Is and ODIs.

When asked about Rohit captaining India, former India cricketer Gautam Gambhir said, “I think he is probably right up there. He has won four IPL trophies and if you talk about IPL cricket, he is the most successful captain. He captained the team in Asia Cup and won it so not only as an option he is probably next to Virat Kohli.

Virat Kohli has led the Indian side in 65 matches and managed to win 49 matches out of them with a winning percentage of 77.98. Rohit, on the other hand, has led the Men in Blue to 8 wins out of 10 ODIs since 2017 with a win percentage of 80. He led the Indian team to the Asia Cup 2018 win in Kohli's absence. Like Rohit, Kohli too had recorded an 8-2 win tie in his first 10 matches as ODI skipper.

In T20Is, Kohli's record is a tad bit lower than Rohit's. The present incumbent had guided India in 22 matches in the shorter format with the team winning 12 matches only. On the other hand, the Men in Blue won a similar number of matches under Rohit's captaincy while leading them in 15 matchesIn absence of Kohli, Rohit has led the Indian side to a victory in the Nidahas trophy in Sri Lanka.
