India A squads announced for the Sri Lanka home series and tour of West Indies

India A squads announced for the Sri Lanka home series and tour of West Indies

Wriddhiman Saha selected for the three four-day games in West Indies.

The Indian national selectors on Tuesday picked the India A squads for two four-day and five one-day matches against Sri Lanka 'A' to be played from May 25 in Belgaum and Hubli and also the 'A' team for the West Indies tour. The team is set to play three four-day and five one-day matches against West Indies 'A' starting July 11.

Wriddhiman Saha makes a much awaited return as he has been picked in the India 'A' squad for the multi-day games against West Indies 'A' while Kona Srikar Bharat is the second-choice keeper.

Rishabh Pant is selected in the squad for the five one-day games with Manish Pandey named skipper. Shreyas Iyer will lead the team in the three four-day games against West Indies 'A'. Shubman Gill also finds a place and he will be keen to make an impact after his impressive domestic season.

This series will be a wonderful opportunity for Saha to prove his form and fitness to the selectors having lost his place in the Test team to Pant after he injured his shoulder last year.

Fast bowlers Navdeep Saini, Mohammed Siraj, Shardul Thakur and Avesh Khan have been given the chance to stake their claim ahead of India's two-match Test series against West Indies.

Mayank Agarwal and Prithvi Shaw will appreciate the game time that the third multi-day game will offer them ahead of the West Indies series.

The one-day series against West Indies 'A' will also help Pant to prepare for the battle when the senior national teams meet after the World Cup, sometime in August.

In the series at home against Sri Lanka, Ishan Kishan has been named skipper of the four-day leg of the series, while Priyank Panchal is the captain of the one-day games. Shreyas Gopal will look to impress in the four-day games after a brilliant IPL where he picked up 20 wickets including a hat-trick.
