Gambhir and Mufti had a heated exchange on Twitter

The Lok Sabha elections are going to get underway in two days and things are already heating up on social media as BJP’s newest recruit Gautam Gambhir and PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti got into a heated exchange on Twitter regarding the Article 370.

Mufti had taken a shot at the BJP after a Public Interest Litigation was moved in Delhi High Court to sought direction to the Election Commission of India to ban Jammu and Kashmir politicians Farooq Abdullah, Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti from participating in the ensuing Lok Sabha Elections as their "statements are against the Indian constitution".

This came after the said politicians had made statements which sounded threatening with regards to BJP manifesto which had a point of removal of Article 370 and 35A from Jammu and Kashmir. For those who are not aware, these two articles of Indian constitution give special state status to J&K, which include clauses like no Indian citizen can buy land in the state or start a business there.

Mufti had released a statement on Twitter which read, “Why waste time in court. Wait for BJP to scrap Article 370. It will automatically debar us from fighting elections since Indian constitution won’t be applicable to J&K anymore. Na Samjho gay tou mit jaouge aye Hindustan walo. Tumhari dastan tak bhi naa hogi dastaano mein"

The Urdu part of the tweet roughly translates to “if you do not understand Indian citizens, then you will be wiped out. There won’t be even a mention of you in the history books

Gautam Gambhir, who recently joined BJP, is known for taking stand for nationalism immediately replied to her, saying, “Yeh Bharat hai. Koi aap jaia dhabba nahi jo mit jayega", which translates to "This is India. Not a blot like you which will get rubbed off."

After a gap of almost 10 hours, Mehbooba Mufti mounted a personal attack on Gautam Gambhir and said, “Hope ur political innings in BJP isnt as abysmal as ur cricket career!

Gautam gave a fitting reply to Mufti writing, “Oh! So you have unblocked my twitter handle! U needed 10 hours to respond to my tweet and come up with such a pedestrian analogy!!! Too slow. It shows the lack of depth in ur personality. No wonder you guys have struggled to solve the issues at hand.

Mufti then proceeded to block Gambhir on Twitter with a message, “I worry for your mental health. Am used to people trolling but this level of stalking is unhealthy. Id imagine most people sleep at night. Better to ???? since you dont know anything about kashmir . Here blocking you now so u can do the 2 rupee per tweet trolling somewhere else

Gambhir finally ended the discussion with this message, "Most welcome Mufti Ma’am, happy to be blocked by a callous individual. By the way, at the time of writing this tweet there are 1,365,386,456 Indians. How will you block them?"

Seven-phase Lok Sabha polls are set to begin on April 11 and will go on till May 19. The counting of votes will take place on May 23.
