R Ashwin and Narendra ModiThe whole country of India will shortly be engaged in the Lok Sabha polls. The seven-phase Lok Sabha polls will be held from April 11 to May 19. The votes will be counted on May 23. This means that the ongoing Indian Premier League 2019 which is scheduled from March 23 to mid-May will clash with the dates of voting.

PM Modi has tagged many cricketers amongst other celebrities appealing them to contribute on their part by urging people to make use their ‘right to vote’ and cast their votes in the ensuing Lok Sabha elections.

India spinner and IPL franchise Kings XI Punjab captain R Ashwin has now appealed to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to let the Indian cricketers vote in the cities they are playing IPL in. Ashwin hails from Chennai but is more or less expected to play cricket in other parts of the nation during the polls taking part in Chennai.

Such is the case with many other cricketers who are away from their homes and cities where they are registered as voters.

Ashwin first tweeted and urged the people to cast their votes and choose their rightful leader. His tweet reads, “Always thought voting is the fulcrum of our democracy and I definitely would like to urge the entire country, each and every one of you from every nook and corner of our country to vote and choose their rightful leader.”

In another tweet, Ashwin writes: “I would also like to request you @narendramodi sir to enable every cricketer playing in the IPL to be allowed to cast their votes from whichever place they find themselves at.
