Following the footsteps of the Indian Cricket Board (BCCI), the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has taken big decision to make the foundation of the Pakistan cricket strong, as the PCB has appointed former Pakistan cricketer and a legend of the game, Younis Khan, as the head coach of their Under-19 side.

A PCB source has revealed on Sunday, 17 March, that the Board has taken the decision discussing with the officials, but they will make the official announcement after completing the formalities.

The BCCI handed the huge responsibility of India's A team and U-19 side to Indian batting giant Rahul Dravid in 2015, and since then the legend has produced outstanding results, and now the PCB wants to follow their Indian counterpart to build up their base.

Recently, PCB chairman Ehsan Mani had said that Pakistan needed to follow BCCI's footstep to hand over the responsibility of the young talent to a former cricketer citing the example of Dravid.

A PCB source revealed to PTI, “A decision has been taken in this regard within the PCB but the announcement will be made soon after completing a few formalities.”

The source signed off by saying, “Younis will be given full powers as head coach and also chief selector of the national junior selection committee and he will be assisted by another former Test player, Nadeem Khan who is in line to be appointed as manager. In the past, there has been a tendency to change coaches and managers of the junior team after one or two series and this has hurt the progress and development of the junior players.”

Noteworthy, India had won the last under-19 World Cup while produced many young cricketing talents likes of Rishabh Pant, Shreyas Iyer, Hardik Pandya, Hanuma Vihari and many others who have made it to the senior national team under his mentorship of Dravid.
