If New Zealand provides proper security as per our demand, then we will go otherwise not, says BCB.

Less than 24 hours after narrowly escaping deadly Christchurch Mosque mass shooting on Friday 15 March, Bangladesh Cricket Team has flown back from New Zealand to Dhaka on Saturday (16 March).

In the deadly attack, at least 49 people were shot dead while other 48 people were injured in the mass shooting incidents in two Christchurch mosques - Al Noor Mosque and Linwood Mosque on Friday.

Incidentally, Bangladeshi players and support staff had also arrived at the Masjid al Noor mosque in Christchurch, where they were set to play third and final Test against the Black Caps from Saturday, for Friday prayers when they were warned not to go inside as the shooting unfolded.

Following the tragedy, the third Test match has been called off with the country on a high-alert, while this incident has now certainly changed the perception of the teams over touring New Zealand for international events here.

However, such incidents rarely happen in New Zealand and such an attack took place for the first time in the history of the country, but the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has declared that the attacks had now changed their perception touring the country citing security concerns.

BCB President Nazmul Hassan stated, “We'll demand proper security wherever our team goes in future. If a country provides proper security as per our demand, then we will go otherwise not. I can say that everything will change after this incident.”
