Legendary Australia spinner Shane Warne on Tuesday (March 12) asserted that Indian batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar doesn’t give him nightmares anymore. In fact, Warne clarified that it was a tongue-in-cheek comment from his side back in the late 90s after Tendulkar had played some jaw-dropping innings against Australia in a span of few months.

“I can promise you Sachin is not my dreams and thoughts today. I can’t recall which year it was but he played terrific Innings and they won test matches (against Australia). I said probably, as a throwaway line tongue-in-cheek I said probably have nightmares about Sachin’s drive. I promise you I don't think about Sachin in my sleep,” he told BW Businessworld.

Warne, who led Rajasthan Royals to its maiden IPL title in 2008, was the mentor of the side last season and he has been named as the brand ambassador of the inaugural IPL champions this year.

During the interview, Warne also shared his two cents over the better batsman between Tendulkar and Virat Kohli. While the spin king termed Sir Vivian Richards as the best Test batsman of all time, he is still contemplating where he would put Kohli in the list of greats.

“I'm still contemplating that I got asked that every day so far for the last month, they're both terrific players like anyone in any era.  They will always be great players. I've been trying to think about do I believe that Virat Kohli is the best one-day International player ever. That's the question I'm asking myself. So I think in Test Cricket at the moment, I would say the Viv Richards was the best player I saw,” Warne remarked.

“Tendulkar was the best to eyeball I had bowled to. So where Virat Kohli stands I am still thinking about it. But at the moment he's got to be very very close to challenge Viv Richards as the greatest one day batsman of all time. To me, it is either Virat Kohli or Viv Richards. Both are the best one day player of all time. I can't figure out who's the best yet. And the rest, probably Sachin and Brian Lara the upcoming the equal sides around now. It still it's not an easy question to answer but I think Virat is definitely the best one day player I've seen since Viv Richards,” he explained.
