New Zealand Cricket (NZC) on Saturday (9th February) announced a 14-man squad for the upcoming three-match One Day International series against Bangladesh starting on 13th February at McLean Park.

While Kane Williamson will lead the Black Caps for the first two ODIs and then will take a "pre-planned rest" and Colin Munro will take the place of regular skipper from the third ODI, Tom Latham will then fill in as the stand-in captain for the home series against Bangladesh.

Munro has been dropped from the Kiwi squad for the first two ODIs against the Tigers following his indifferent form against India in the limited overs campaign.

Meanwhile, Martin Guptill returned to the Black Caps’ ODI squad for the Bangladesh series, though his participation in the home series depends on the fitness Test after aggravating a disc in his lower back.

NZC selector Gavin Larsen said, “We're delighted to have Martin back on the park for this series; he's a world-class player and an integral part of our one-day side. He and Henry did a good job opening up in Hamilton against India and they're a combination we want to see some more of in this series before Colin returns to the top for the third game with Kane resting.”

On the other hand, Mitchell Santner and Todd Astle have been named in the squad for the home ODIs after both of whom recovered from knee injuries while Ish Sodhi failed to find himself in the squad.

Larsen signed off by saying, “We've been really pleased with Mitchell's return after serious knee surgery last year and we'll continue to monitor him through the rest of the season. Todd's another who is returning from a knee injury and after getting limited opportunities against India, we're keen to see more of him in this series.”
