India batsman KL Rahul is going through a dreadful time after his appearance in the popular TV show ‘Koffee with Karan’.

Rahul appeared on the show along with Hardik Pandya wherein they created a controversy by passing "misogynistic" and "sexist" comments. After receiving flak from various quarters, the duo was suspended pending an inquiry by BCCI and called back from the Australia tour.

Even though the CoA has now lifted the suspension on both the cricketers, Rahul’s poor time on the field continues. The right-hander was picked in the India ‘A’ team to face England Lions wherein he registered the scores of 13, 41 and 0 in three one-dayers.

Amidst this torrid phase, Rahul has reportedly donated a huge sum of money to ailing Baroda cricketer Jacob Martin, who has been in the hospital since December 28 following a severe accident which injured his lungs and liver.

As per a report in Mumbai Mirror, Martin’s family confirmed receiving hefty donation from Rahul but refused to reveal the amount as per the Indian opener’s wishes. However, sources claim that Rahul’s amount was the largest individual donation to Martin family.

“A big thanks to Rahul and everyone who has helped,” Jacob Martin told Mumbai Mirror.

His wife Khyati said to the same newspaper that Rahul’s team contacted the family after reading about Martin’s troubles.

“They asked about our immediate requirement and the money was transferred into our account the same day,” she said.

Martin, who has represented India in 10 ODIs and guided Baroda to Ranji Trophy victory in the 2000-01 season, was supposed to be discharged from the hospital on Monday (February 4) as his recovery process was on track. However, sudden complications arose at the last moment and hospital authorities advised him to stay there for another week.

Jacob can’t wait to leave the hospital as he said: “The body is reacting very well to treatment and I am now in a stable condition. I am hoping to be home in a couple of days and I want return to the ground. I can’t wait for it, I just want to get back to cricket.”
