Faf du Plessis has revealed that South Africa team management are starting to see some clarity with regard to the World Cup squad after clinching One Day International 3-2 against Pakistan at in Cape Town on Wednesday (January 30).

However, the Proteas skipper Plessis admitted that there are still some spots up for grabs, but they are almost close to their squad for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2018 after the home series against Pakistan.

Du Plessis told reporters in the post-match presentation on Wednesday, “We as management are starting to see a bit of clarity in the squad, especially after this series. A few positions are still up for grabs, but there's surely more clarity now.”

The captain also hailed his troops for their match-winning show in a must-win game at Newlands Cricket Ground after the hosts defeated Pakistan by 7-wickets in the final ODI to win the series 3-2 here.

He further added, “Our best performance came tonight in a crunch game. It's good to see that when the stakes are high, the team has responded. The bowling was excellent and we fielded well too. I expected the ball to skid a little more, but it was stopping a little when we batted.”

Meanwhile, Plessis was also impressed by Quinton de Kock, who adjudged man-of-the-match for his stunning knock of 83 off just 58 balls in Cape Town, saying his form is always crucial for the Proteas.

Du Plessis signed off by saying, “If Quinton plays like that, it makes it easier for the remaining batters. Would've liked to see others also get a go, but happy to seal the series clinically.”
