Pujara and Kohli are Tendulkar and Dravid of this era for India, says Jeffrey Archer

Highly acclaimed author Jeffrey Archer compared the magnificent exploits of Cheteshwar Pujara and Virat Kohli with the legacy that Rahul Dravid and Sachin Tendulkar forged in their time for India.

While Virat, much like Tendulkar did, has dominated the realms of Test match cricket in all conditions, Pujara is quite Dravidesque in the way India depends over his performance batting at No.3.

"Pujara is a beautiful batsman and Kohli... He is just too good. They are really the Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid of this period and it is a privilege to watch them," Archer told PTI during the ongoing Jaipur Literature Festival (JLF) at the Diggi Palace on Saturday, January 26.

Archer regularly watches international cricket but did he see India dominate New Zealand in the second ODI at Mount Maunganui?

"No, not that. I know that's too easy for you. The Indians had a wonderful tour of Australia and it is now crippling New Zealand," he said with a grin, "But yes I was watching England vs West Indies where we were slaughtered."

The 78-year-old, who is a die-hard fan of many Indian cricketers, still smiles over the realization that his feelings are absolutely mutual.

"Lots of Indian cricketers read my books. For example Ashwin, VVS Laxman, and Rahul Dravid... They all read my books," said the author of the recently released book, "Heads You Win"
