Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Chennai Super Kings (CSK) has extended helping hands towards ailing Jacob Martin, who is currently fighting for his life in the hospital, by contributing Rs 3 lakhs to the medical treatment of former Indian cricketer on Tuesday (January 22).

Martin, who played 10 ODIs for India in 1999-2001, had met with a road accident on December 28 in Vadodara and is currently in critical condition after suffering injuries to his liver and lungs.

At the moment, the former Baroda cricketer is on a ventilator and fighting for his life since then, and his wife has requested some financial assistance to cover hospital expenses.

Reportedly, she also had appealed to the Indian Cricket Board for help and the BCCI acted promptly and sanctioned Rs 5 lakhs for Martin’s treatment.

Baroda and India player Krunal Pandya has also extended support towards the treatment of Martin and left a blank cheque with Sanjay Patel, and now the CSK has given Rs. 3 lakh for the medical treatment of the cricketer.

K.S. Viswanathan, the CSK CEO, stated, “Chennai Super Kings Cricket Limited transferred a sum of Rs three lakh towards the medical expenses of Martin. We got it to touch with Baroda Cricket Association officials to understand his financial situation. We hope and pray for his speedy recovery.”

Meanwhile, Sanjay Patel, the former BCCI Secretary, who has taken the responsibility of raising money for the cricketer, has also confirmed that CSK assured more help if needed.

Patel signed off by saying, “The IPL franchise from Chennai has given Rs. 3 lakh and assured more help if needed. Jacob is suffering. The BCCI should do a lot more than what it has done. Jacob is getting good treatment, but his family needs a lot more money. Many parts of his body are damaged.”
