Vinod Rai, Chairman of Committee of Administrators (CoA) has reportedly recommended a two-match ban on Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul for their “inappropriate” words on the talk show - Koffee with Karan.
While another report suggested that Hardik is likely to be banned, while Rahul might escape with a warning from the BCCI, but the Indian Cricket Board is yet to come up with the punishment for the duo.
With hardly 24 hours to go before India announce its Playing XI for the first of the three One-day Internationals in Sydney, Virat Kohli, and Ravi Shastri are still clueless whether Pandya and Rahul will be allowed to play, as the BCCI's legal team are yet declare their verdict on the duo concerning the Koffee with Karan controversy.
While Pandya was seen wearing his "I'm a womanizer" attitude like a badge on the show and became the main target on the social media for his "cringeworthy" and "disgusting" comments, Rahul also revealed that he was partying in Miami on the morning of the first T20I between India and West Indies at Florida (in 2016), as he was not confirmed whether he was in the playing XI.
The batsman further said that he returned to team hotel on the morning of the match day and was included in the playing XI and even went on to score a century against the West Indies.
Meanwhile, their misconduct forced the BCCI to take legal action against the duo, as the CoA member Diana Edulji and Rai already advocated a two-match ban for the cricketers.
While Captain Kohli said at the pre-match press conference at SCG, “We are still waiting for a decision to be made but from the Indian cricket team point of view, this changes nothing in terms of our beliefs in the change room. It does nothing to the spirit that we’ve been able to create within the change room and these are purely individual opinions and something as I said which is inappropriate.”
On the other hand, an insider of the official claimed that "this is not a legal issue at all, and is about BCCI's own Code of Conduct for cricketers and that is simply waste of time."
It is learned that the BCCI and CoA will announce their final action on the duo on Friday (January 11).
