Hardik Pandya has responded to BCCI's show-cause notice, saying he is "sincerely regretful" for the comments he made on "Koffee with Karan".

In his letter which is in PTI's possession, Pandya said he did not realize that his comments will be found offensive by the viewers. He wrote, "I made an appearance on the chat show where I have made certain statements without realising that these could be disrespectful and offend sensitivities of viewers for which I am sincerely regretful,"

"I would like to assure you that there was no malice or any sort of ill-intent on my part to offend anyone or portray any section of the society in bad light. I made these statements in the flow of the show and had not comprehended the extent to which my statements would be found offensive," he added.

"Rest assured I hold the BCCI in highest regard and will exercise complete discretion and prudence to ensure that such incidents are never repeated in future," he concluded.

It is learnt that Pandya also apologized to head coach Ravi Shastri and his senior teammates in Australia, where he is currently part of the ODI squad. He was not seen at the nets during India's optional practice session on Wednesday.

Pandya also tweeted his apology to the fans earlier on Wednesday.

The show "Koffee with Karan" is hosted by Karan Johar, and is known to create controversies with the guests often getting carried away with their answers in the heat of the moment.

KL Rahul's response to BCCI's show-cause notice is awaited.
