Spin king Shane Warne has called for a “complete overhaul” of Australian cricket on Tuesday (January 8), saying the home side must overhaul cricket at all levels from coaching at the grassroots to academy programs and grade cricket in a bid to get back its roots in the game of cricket.

Warne’s harsh comment came after Australia’s first home-series loss against an Asian side -India who have won their historic Test series 2-1 here on Monday, which has sparked a fiery debate between Mark Waugh and Michael Vaughan on the social media.

It has all started with former England skipper and commentator Vaughan’s latest column for The Telegraph, where he claimed that Australia’s problems will not be solved even after the return of their talismanic batsmen Steve Smith and David Warner, who are currently serving ban for a year due to their involvement in the ball-tampering scandal in South Africa.

Vaughan wrote, “If you think Australia’s problems will be solved the moment Steve Smith and David Warner are available for selection again then you are wrong ... every facet of their Test team has to improve.”

Meanwhile, the cricket pundit further went on to make a piercing comment on the current Aussie side, saying England shouldn’t even bother preparing the bowler-friendly pitches, which have recently tormented the Kangaroos, referring Ashes 2019.

He continued, “I don’t think you need to do that against this Australian side. England do not need to take any risks. Just prepare a good Test match wicket because the best team will come out on top and in English conditions that is England.”

While, Vaughan’s comment irked former Australian cricketer Mark Waugh, who posted a series of tweets on his official social media handle regarding the same.

On the other hand, Warne agreed with the statement Vaughan’s harsh-bit-true comment, saying Smith and Warner wouldn’t be the saviors for Australian cricket and they need a revolution in the Test side.

Warne also shed lights of the fact that the fast bowlers didn’t even get one LBW decision in their favor and not a single batsman scored a century against India, and that is a serious cause for concern for the Australian cricket.
