Mark Waugh hits back at Michael Vaughan for his column against Australian team

Vaughan wrote the come back of Steve Smith and David Warner won't make any difference for Australia.

Ex-cricketers from Australia and England, Mark Waugh and Michael Vaughan exchanged words on Twitter after the former criticized Australian cricket team's performance following a 2-1 series loss at home against India.

Vaughan believes the addition of Steve Smith and David Warner won't make any difference to this time as the issue isn't just batting.

On the other side, Waugh suggested any team in the world would face the same result if they lose two of their top class batsmen.

Waugh was irked by the column of Vaughan in which he wrote Australia can't beat England this summer. "I cannot see Australia beating England this summer unless they assess themselves brutally," Vaughan wrote in his column for London's Telegraph newspaper. "Batting techniques have to be better and they need to be more consistent with the ball. Every facet of their Test team has to improve. They are kidding themselves if they think everything will be rosy when Smith and Warner come back."

"On flat, good batting pitches, Australia really struggled as it is on those tracks that weaknesses are highlighted. A batting unit's defenses are tested because it is necessary to bat for long periods. Australia is unable to play long innings. They look like a team who can score 250-300, and that is good enough on sporting pitches, but not when it is flat," he added.

Waugh was clearly not in support of former England captain's words. He replied, "I'm not so sure about that Mr. Vaughan. Assuming Warner and Smith get back to somewhere near their best I'm suggesting they will make a huge difference. You take the 2 best batsmen out of any cricket team in the world and see what happens or even 1. Kohli, Root, Williamson etc."

Vaughan also responded to the Aussie saying it's not only about batting. "It's not just your Batting Mark ... Take your blinkers off," he replied.
